PostSubject: Art with a truly important message - Banksy   Sun Nov 23, 2014 9:41 pm

So I found a old school assignment that we did - the assignment was to create a cartoon strip that shows a problem that we have in our world today, for example racism or bullying. I looked at my old picture (here's a link, if you want to see it: http://karrochaan.deviantart.com/art/Feminism-VS-Feminism-456535415) and started to think about a artists pictures that my teacher had shown me. After some googling I found him - Banksy.

So who is this Banksy? I have no idea. Neither does the world. All we know is that he is a artist from England. But he doesn't want to reveal his name or age, so he uses Banksy as a pseudonym. What I do know though, is that his work takes my breath away. It's very satirical and provocative - but it's just that that makes me love it. It shows how our world sometimes really looks - some of the pictures are truly disturbing to see - but they need to be seen. They had to be made.

I have to say that I truly admire Banksy for doing this. That he has the courage to do this, I know that I probably wouldn't have it.

And seriously - how is it even possible to be as talented as he is?

In my opinion Banksy is a incredibly talented genius. What do you think about his art? Is it to extreme, is it even good or is it bad?

He's painting pictures of reality. Liberating to not be so subtle. I especially like the Keep your coins-picture. It says it all about its complex subject.

Exactly. I love that one to, it's just genius. I love the last one as well, even though I have to say that it is disturbing - but oh, what a message it sends.

I guess it's with art as with music, as Thug said in the http://thereviews.topdiscussion.com/t72-the-attraction-of-music-reflecting-our-soul thread about using it as a way of expressing free speech - as a image can say more than a... (you've heard that one before).
